The purpose of the Correctional Committee is to coordinate the efforts of AA members and groups who are interested in carrying the message of recovery to alcoholics who are incarcerated. The committee works directly with the administration of correctional institutions and individual "facilitators" of AA in order to ensure all facility rules are followed within the guidelines of the 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. We also coordinate with "Bridge the Gap" that puts incarcerated individuals in touch with sober members living in the area of where they will be living when released to help them make the transition to living in society. Additionally, the Corrections arm of the Hospitals and Institutions Committee provide literature such as Big Books, 12 X 12s, Living Sober and assorted other brochures, pamphlets and books to incarcerated individuals.
